Playing Every Sunday in July at the Hopetoun Hotel

We're doing our first ever residency and thankfully it's at our spiritual home, the Hopetoun Hotel in Surry Hills. Different bands will be supporting us every week, so check the tour dates. It is FREE ENTRY so there's no excuse for not coming along and having a couple of drinks. The shows are in the early evening, starting at 6. It'll all be over by 10pm, so there's plenty of time to go home and get a good rest before work the next day. I think we'll be playing at around 9. We'll be playing songs from Peapod, as well as new stuff, and real old stuff... b-sides and the like. If you have any requests head to our myspace site www.myspace.som/theredsunband and pop them in our comments.

Sarah WINS songwriting award!

Hello everybody. It's very wonderful- I won an APRA PDA award. Kind of. The award I won is specially in honour of Jessic Michalik, the girl who died at the Big Day Out. The award is intended to support and encourage up and coming song writers. The ceremony was at The Mint in the city, and I met Jessica's parents, Barbara and George, and her best friend, Lisa. It was a bit emotional. The award was presented by Sahara Herald-Shepherd who runs, with Ken West, the Big Day Out. Magnificent!

A little while ago some people were emailing us about starting up a forum on this website. We've now got our own site on myspace- myspace.com/theredsunband- so head over there if you'd like to write something. There's also a whole bunch of live photographs from various venues over a long period of time, so check it out!

On The Farm

I've been out in the sticks, the country, for a week, writing songs and staring at the horizon. It's been real nice. I know I wrote in this very annal that we'd be making an album by the end of the year, but now I'm not so sure. It's not because of any shortage of songs, to the contrary, it's because I'm enjoying writing new songs so much! It's amazing to sit down and just write every morning and see what you create. I'm not suggesting that it's completely uncontrollable, but it's always different and insightful. I worry a lot, you know, if I'm doing the right thing or wasting my time, but when I write a bunch of songs that I adore I feel totally validated. We spent two weeks before I went away rehearsing and recording at Troy Horse, and we came up with five songs that I think are great, and make me jump around the room when I listen to them. It's very exciting. We'll be recording sometime. I don't know when, but it'll be good.
