MAGIC DIRT ANNOUNCE FREAKSCENE FESTIVAL AND IT’S FREE!!!

MAGIC DIRT have teamed up with Victoria Rocks – Arts Victoria and the Lakes Entrance Summer Music Festival to create their own Freakscene Festival.

The great news is that it’s all free. That’s right, no charge to get in. All you have to do is pack the car, head down the coast and fly your freak flag high!

Everything happens at the Lakes Entrance Recreation Reserve, right in the heart of the pretty Gippsland seaside town, just 3.5 – 4 hours drive from Melbourne.

Freakscene - The Music - Saturday 20th December Magic Dirt curate and headline a full day of cranked live music and entry is free. The dirtbags have assembled their dream line-up on one stage. It’s a sonic love-in for bands and fans alike, featuring some of Australia's finest artists, handpicked by Magic Dirt. The line-up:

The band play Like an Arrow, The Eagle & Bathysphere in a stripped back setting.

theredsunband & Youth Group are about to set off on a mammoth 18-date co-headlining tour.

The month long tour kicks off on October 16th and winds its way through five states & territories over four weeks.

The history of the two bands has long been intertwined:

theredsunband played their first gig with Lizzie Kelly on keyboards supporting Youth Group at the Hopetoun Hotel in 2002. Lizzie was 16 years old and travelling on a fake ID.

Youth Group singer, Toby Martin, first recalls hearing demos of theredsunband in a car with his bandmates and once gave early single “Sleep Forever” five stars in a magazine review.

The good will has continued with the two bands now heading out on tour together in a 12-seater bus, on equal billing, sharing beer and gear and even peforming a special encore.

This week, Sarah Kelly & Toby Martin met at Erskineville Oval (home of the South Sydney Rabbitohs) armed with a 1952 Australian Penny with which to decide who would headline each night of the tour.

The bands will headline one night each in Sydney and Melbourne and share all other dates equally.

theredsunband are pleased to announce that they will be accompanying Magic Dirt on their album launch tour in August. Playing East Coast shows, the band will continue showcasing songs from the new records as well as old favourites.

'The Shiralee' is now available at the shops. Our favourite shops are Red Eye and Hum in Sydney. Thanks to all the folks who came along to our in-store at Red Eye and made it so enjoyable. Hurrah to releasing records!

theredsunband are launching the 'Like an Arrow' EP at the Annandale Hotel on Saturday 19th of January. The EP will be available for purchase for $10. The very special guests on the night will be Richard In Your Mind and The Straight Arrows.
